Serving Opportunities!

Hi everyone,

To get you in all in the Christmas spirit we have some serving opportunities coming up!

Penny Drive:
Some of you may have seen the penny drive happening on campus. Here’s some ways you can help out with that and allow our campus to adopt 6 children and provide a meal for their families this Christmas season. The goal is to raise $500; we are at about $200 right now. So, please, if you see the penny drive tables on campus consider giving your spare change or more to the cause.

1) Becki Jump is looking for volunteers to go shopping with the donated money on Dec 13-14th
2) She is also looking for volunteers to deliver those gifts on Dec 16th.

Also, the student group OLLA is looking for help with a campus wide fiesta they are putting on Thursday Dec 11th from 11:30-1pm. Sarah Gibbs (one of our Cru members) is in this group and would love it if any of you could help her out!

The serving opportunities are:
1)Window paintings (Nov 28th 10am-12pm meet @ club office)
2) Decorating (Wed Dec 10th, 3pm-5pm)
3) Serve food on the day of the event. (Dec 11th 11:30 till whenever food runs out)
4) Events during the event... pie eating contest, jalapenos eating contest, clean up (Dec 11th 11:30 – 1)

I know were getting into the home stretch with schoolwork and things, but as you sprint to the finish, please remember to consider giving a little bit of your time to help others! Thanks and have a fabulous Thanksgiving!

God Bless,
Becky

TCX! Are YOU all in?!

Hi everyone,

There is an amazing opportunity coming up for you all over the break in December! TCX (Twin Cities Experience)! I wanted to let you know about it early so that you can plan and pray about it.

Harvest Party Updates (Cru)

Hey Everyone,

Just a reminder: There will be no Bible Study this Friday night. Instead we will be heading to Kenosha for the annual CRU HARVEST PARTY!!!!!

There has been a time change for the Harvest Party. It is now scheduled to begin at 6pm instead of 5pm. Please take note of this.

Also, some of you may be wondering how you will get to the party. Ko will be driving down and can fit 3 other people in his car. We will all meet at UW-Waukesha and drive caravan-style to the party. You do not have to be a part of the caravan, we just think this is a good idea for those of us who really have no idea how to get to Kenosha Bible Church (like me) and would rather carpool/follow someone down there. Ko owns a GPS so the caravan should not get lost. It will take at least an hour to commute to the party, so please arrive at UW-Waukesha no later than 5pm.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to talk to one of your leaders!

Hope you all have a blessed week!

Because of Him,
Becky Smiltneek

There will be prizes for the Best-dressed Hick, Best-dressed Hip-Hop, Best-dancin’ Hick, and Best-dancin’ Hip-Hop!

Fall Retreat

Hi Everyone,

Feeling the stress of the semester yet? Yeah? Well, Cru has the sweet cure! Fall Retreat 2008! This is going to be an awesome weekend of fellowship and fun at Camp Awana in Fredonia, WI. There’ll be worship, seminars, bonfires, board games, football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, canoeing, hiking, ping-pong and, best of all, time to reconnect with God and friends. The Camp has acres of trees, open fields, and a lake making it a great place to enjoy His nature. There will be college students involved in Campus Crusade from the whole Milwaukee metro area there!

Fall Retreat is going to be taking place on October 17th, 18th, and 19th. If you have no idea how to get to Camp Awana (like me) don’t worry! There will be driving arrangements made so that you can get there. It is located about 40 minutes north of Milwaukee. Fall Retreat costs $80 and $70 for freshman. There is still money left in the budget to receive an additional $10 off! This means $70 for continuing student, or $60 for freshman! But don’t worry if you can’t come up with that money! Steve Papez is providing a form that you can fill out for a scholarship, which means that Campus Crusade will sponsor you and you will go for FREE! We don’t think money should come between you and God. ☺

Also, there will be down time during the day that you can use to study if you need to. We will be staying in cabins and you will need to bring a Bible, a sleeping bag, towels, toiletries, clothes for recreation, and any board games you like. We will arrive around 6:30pm on Friday and leave around 11 am on Sunday.

Bottom line: Fall Retreat ROCKS! I have heard stories from so many people about how awesome it is. ☺ I hope to see you there!

God Bless,
Becky

Newsletter Issue 2

Hey there!

We at Cru just wanted to give you guys a heads up on a lot of things that are going to be happening with us and to make sure you know when and where the Bible studies are going to meet during this semester.
First up: On Saturday, the 20 of this month (September), there is going to be a kick-off party at my house (Eryk) for all the new Cru members (that's you, friend). We will be enjoying volleyball and food while explaining what Cru is all about and above all we are going to remember that all of it was made possible by God and FOR God. The address is W291 N840 Windrift Ct Waukesha, WI 53188. Please let us know if you can make it!

Second: Every week there are two meetings for Cru, on Tuesdays and Fridays at noon. Now, it is ok that you do not make it to both meeting, we, being students ourselves, know that it is hard with all of our classes to make everything work, that's why we have two days for you to show up. However, we would still urge you to make it to at least one of the meetings, if at all possible, because we really want to get to know you and want you to get involved with Cru both during school and outside of school.

Third: Outside of Cru there is a Friday night meeting at Lauren Below (Bee-low) 8:00 pm until 12:00am (normally) You are not obligated to stay for the whole meeting, if you have to leave early; that's okay! If you can't make it till later in the evening; that's fine as well! The reason this meeting is so long is that we take the time for fellowship (to hangout and see how we are doing), worship (singing songs of praise and praying to our awesome God) and for the actual Bible study which we take the time for any questions and comments you may have about the lesson. AFTER the meeting, we usually head over to Denny's for some midnight fellowship and fun. Our first meeting on Sept. 26th. If you need directions, please let us know via email/facebook/phone/in person. If ya want to talk to someone about this, you can call Lauren: 262-527-4094.

Fourth: There will be a fall retreat on Oct 17-19, for Camp Awana in Fredonia, WI. The camp is a place to get connected with God personally and spiritually and for fellowship with fellow Christians. This will be a great time to get away from the drag of normal life and have time to relax, refresh and learn about our God and His plan for us. For more information or to let us know if you are interested, please let us know and we will provide much more information than you can handle!

For ANY information, please contact one of the Cru leaders and we will be happy to assist you in any way we can. We want you to be able to enjoy your time at UW Waukesha while also enjoying a Christian experience that you can really be yourself and still be accepted and grow in your relationship with God and with fellow Christians! Please take the time to consider everything in this email and let us know what you think!

With the love of God,

Cru

Campus Crusade for Christ - Fall 2008

Hello,

Thanks for taking interest in UW-Waukesha’s Campus Crusade for Christ. Hope all of you had a pretty good first few days of school so far. I am excited for what God has in store for us this school year.

Here’s just a little bit of information regarding our meeting time and location.

Our first meeting is not until Friday, September 12th. After that, we will meet regularly on Tuesday’s and Friday’s. Fellowship time is 11am-12pm, and the actual meeting goes from 12pm-12:50pm, finishing up just in time for 1pm classes.

This year we will meet in room C158. It is between the SGA office (big glass windows) and the Business office (where you pay tuition and buy parking passes). The room is down a little hallway that is across from our Cru bulletin board and the mailroom. Just in case you really get lost, we will have signs up on Friday to direct you where to go. ☺
If you can’t make it to both Tuesdays’ and Fridays’ meetings, that’s okay! Just come whenever you can, we will be glad to meet you.

Once things get rolling a bit, we will resume our off campus Bible studies on Friday nights. Time and location is still to be announced, but it will probably be 8pm at my house (Ko); which is about 3 minutes from UW-Waukesha.

I am extremely excited for Cru this year! I can’t wait to get to know each and every one of you!

In Christ,
Ko
